    Microneedling vs OxyGeneo Facial: Which One Does Your Skin Need?

    Microneedling vs OxyGeneo Facial: Which One Does Your Skin Need?

    Last updated: October 2026 | Reading time: 5 minutes

    Both treatments promise smoother, brighter skin, both are offered by Crystal Cosmetic Clinic at our address, and clients regularly ask me which one to book alongside their lashes. They are not two versions of the same thing. One is a glow treatment you can do the week of an event; the other is a repair treatment that works over months.

    How each one works

    OxyGeneo is a 3-in-1 facial. It exfoliates the surface, releases CO₂ bubbles that prompt the body to send more oxygen-rich blood to the skin, and infuses serums at the same time. Nothing goes below the surface.

    Microneedling uses a medical-grade device with fine needles to make controlled micro-punctures. The skin heals them by producing new collagen and elastin — that rebuilding is the whole point, and it takes weeks.

    Side by side

    • Best for: OxyGeneo — dullness, dehydration, uneven tone, pre-event glow. Microneedling — acne scars, enlarged pores, rough texture, fine lines.
    • Session: OxyGeneo 45–60 min. Microneedling 30–60 min, with numbing cream.
    • Downtime: OxyGeneo none. Microneedling — redness like a mild sunburn for a few days.
    • Course: OxyGeneo 3–6 sessions, a visible difference after the first. Microneedling 3–6 sessions, 4–6 weeks apart.
    • Price at the clinic: OxyGeneo — a package of 3 sessions for $450. Microneedling — from $250 per session, $700–850 for a package of 3.

    Choose OxyGeneo if…

    • you have an event in the next week or two and want your skin to look fresh in photos;
    • your skin is dull or dehydrated rather than scarred;
    • you cannot afford any visible downtime;
    • you have sensitive or acne-prone skin and want something gentle.

    Choose microneedling if…

    • you want to treat acne scars, enlarged pores or texture that a facial will not change;
    • you can plan a few months ahead and accept a few red days after each session;
    • you want a result that builds and lasts rather than a glow for the weekend.

    Microneedling is not done on active skin infections or open wounds, with a tendency to keloid scars, with certain autoimmune conditions, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The clinic checks this at the consultation.

    Can you do both?

    Yes, and many people do: microneedling as a course for the long-term result, OxyGeneo between sessions or before an event for the glow. The clinic plans the spacing so the two do not overlap with the healing days.

    And your lashes?

    OxyGeneo fits into the same trip as a lash appointment — facial first, then lashes. After microneedling, give the skin a few days before your next lash appointment. I wrote more about this in facials and lash extensions.

    Frequently asked questions

    Which one is better for acne scars?

    Microneedling. OxyGeneo improves the surface and tone, but scars need collagen remodelling, which is what microneedling triggers.

    Which one is better before a wedding?

    OxyGeneo in the final week. Microneedling only if you start months ahead — see the bridal beauty timeline.

    Do I need a consultation?

    Yes. The clinic looks at your skin first and recommends one treatment, the other, or a combination.

    Not sure which one? Send a request and choose "Not sure yet — I need a consultation". We will pass it to the clinic.
