Brides ask me the same question every season: "When should I do my lashes?" The honest answer is that lashes are the easy part — they go on a day or a few days before the wedding. What needs planning is everything around them: skin treatments that need a series of sessions, filler that swells before it settles, injections that take time to show. Get the order wrong and you are covering redness or swelling on the day you most want to look like yourself.
Our studio shares an address with Crystal Cosmetic Clinic, a medical aesthetics clinic, so we plan these timelines together all the time. Here is the plan I give brides, working backwards from the wedding date.
3–6 months before: start any treatment that needs a series
If you want to improve texture, acne scars or enlarged pores, this is when to start microneedling. It is done as a course of 3–6 sessions, 4–6 weeks apart, and collagen keeps building for weeks after each one. Starting late means either skipping sessions or having one too close to the wedding.
- Plan the last session at least a few weeks before the day — the skin stays red and sensitive for a few days afterwards.
- If your skin just needs a glow rather than repair, you can skip this step entirely.
6–8 weeks before: book a lash trial
A trial set lets us choose the style — classic, hybrid or volume, the length and the curl — while there is still time to change it. You will wear it for a few weeks and see how it photographs and how it suits your eye shape. If you would rather not wear extensions, a lash lift is the alternative; it is worth trying once before the wedding too.
3–4 weeks before: wrinkle-relaxing injections
If you are considering wrinkle-relaxing injections for forehead or frown lines, do them well ahead. The effect builds over several days, and leaving a few weeks means there is time for a review and a small adjustment if the nurse recommends one. Never try them for the first time in the last week.
2–4 weeks before: lip filler
Lip filler shows a result straight away, but lips swell for the first few days and small bruises can appear. Doing it at least a couple of weeks before the wedding leaves time for the swelling to go down and for a touch-up if you want one.
A few days to a week before: OxyGeneo facial
An OxyGeneo facial has no downtime, which makes it the treatment for the final stretch: it exfoliates, brings a glow and hydrates the skin before make-up. Book it a few days before the wedding — not on the morning itself, so the skin has time to settle and your make-up artist works on calm skin.
1–3 days before: your lash set
Lash extensions go on last. A set applied one to three days before the wedding is at its fullest on the day, and the adhesive has fully cured, so tears and humidity are not a problem. If you are also having a facial that week, do the facial first: serums and oils near the lash line weaken the adhesive, and lashes need clean, oil-free lashes to bond.

Frequently asked questions
Can I do my lashes and a facial on the same day?
Yes, if the facial comes first. After a lash appointment, keep steam and oily products away from the lashes for the first day or two.
Can I get lashes right after injections?
Better not. A lash appointment means lying flat for an hour or two with someone working near your eyes, and after injections you are usually asked to stay upright and not press on the area for a few hours. Do the lashes first or on another day.
Who does the skin treatments?
Crystal Cosmetic Clinic, which shares our address at 5460 Yonge St. Injectables are done by the clinic's registered nurse after a consultation. I do the lashes.
