One of the biggest mistakes I see in lash extensions is a "one size fits all" approach. Your eye shape should guide every decision — from curl type to length mapping to style. Here's my guide to choosing the most flattering lash extensions for your unique eyes.

Almond Eyes

Almond eyes are considered the most versatile shape — almost any lash style looks beautiful. The eye tapers slightly at both corners with a visible crease.

Best styles: Cat eye, natural, wispy

Recommended curls: C or D curl

Mapping tip: Graduate length from inner to outer corner for a classic cat eye, or center the longest lashes for a doll-eye effect.

Round Eyes

Round eyes are wide and open with a visible white space above or below the iris. The goal is to elongate rather than open further.

Best styles: Cat eye, fox eye

Recommended curls: C curl (D curl can make eyes look too round)

Mapping tip: Keep inner and center lashes shorter, place the longest extensions on the outer third to elongate.

Hooded Eyes

With hooded eyes, the crease is hidden by a fold of skin. The key is to create the illusion of more lid space.

Best styles: Open eye, doll eye

Recommended curls: L or L+ curl (lifts from the base without the extension disappearing under the hood)

Mapping tip: Use stronger curls and moderate lengths. Overly long extensions on hooded eyes can droop and look messy.

Monolid Eyes

Monolids have no visible crease. Extensions can beautifully define the lash line and create depth.

Best styles: Doll eye, open eye

Recommended curls: L, L+, or D curl for maximum lift

Mapping tip: Strong curls are essential to ensure extensions are visible. Center the longest lashes for a wide-eyed effect.

Downturned Eyes

The outer corners dip slightly below the inner corners. The goal is to lift the outer corners.

Best styles: Cat eye, squirrel eye

Recommended curls: C curl inner/center, D or L curl on outer corners for lift

Mapping tip: Use the strongest curl on the last 5-6 outer lashes to counteract the natural droop.

Close-Set vs Wide-Set Eyes

Close-set: Place longer lashes on outer corners to create width.

Wide-set: Center the longest lashes to draw focus inward.
