Disposable nylon spoolies for combing lashes and brows, supplied as a mix of head shapes. One per client, fifty to a pack.

The mix is the point

Heads come in different densities and diameters rather than one uniform shape. A dense narrow head separates a volume set without dragging fans out of place. A softer wide head is what you want on brows, where you are laying hair down rather than combing it apart.

Where they earn their place

• Lashes: a comb-through at the end of a set shows every stuck fan while you can still fix it.

• Brows: mapping, then brushing hair into shape before and after cleansing foam.

• Lamination and tinting: distributing product evenly through the hair.

• Aftercare demo: hand one to the client and show them how to brush at home.

Disposable, and that is deliberate

A spoolie that has been through mascara, tint or lamination compound does not come clean. Hygiene rules here are the same as for brow tweezers that get disinfected between clients, except a spoolie costs cents, so it gets thrown out instead.
