Why a boot, and why this wide

The boot exists because a big fan has to be held across its width, not pinched at a point, or it closes before it reaches the lash. Wide edges and a wide opening are what let you take a fan that is already twenty lashes and set it down still fanned. On the narrow tools in this line that same fan collapses.

Straight handles

The handles do not taper, which changes where the tool balances. If you have been working with an extended-handle boot such as the TE-40/12, this will feel different in the hand before it feels different on the lash — give it a set before deciding.

Hard to find in Canada

This model has thinned out badly at Canadian suppliers — it is absent from the two largest lash sellers and sold out at a third. If you already work with a 75-degree boot, this is the moment to keep a spare.
