What the hatchet does

Eighty degrees puts the working surface almost perpendicular to the handle, so you look straight down onto the tip instead of at it from the side. That is what makes isolation quick: you can see the exact lash you are separating, place the tip under it, and lift without disturbing its neighbours. It is equally the tool for freeing lashes that have bonded together in an old set.
