How an ombre tray works

The fibre is black where it meets the natural lash and fades to violet toward the tip. Closed eyes look like a normal black set; open eyes catch the colour in the light. That is the whole appeal — a client gets something noticeable without a set that reads as costume, and it photographs beautifully in daylight.

How to use it in a set

You do not need a whole tray of colour to get the effect. Most artists mix ombre lashes into a black set, concentrating them along the outer third or scattering them through the middle. Eight lines is exactly the right size for that: enough for many sets, not so much that it sits on the shelf going stale.

Who it suits

Violet flatters green and hazel eyes most obviously, and it lifts brown eyes without being obvious about it. It is also the safest of the bright colours for a client who wants to try coloured lashes for the first time and is worried about looking overdone.
